The Bridge Exhibition Series

Chelsea District Library brings the world to our community by presenting high-quality, national arts and cultural exhibitions yearly. These exhibitions share stories through a compelling mix of artifacts, text, photographs, and graphics. Exhibitions run for six weeks.

Authors in Chelsea

March | This two-day event in March brings nationally known authors and illustrators to Chelsea schools to present workshops and interact with children free of charge to participants. Authors in Chelsea provides children close contact with nationally known, award-winning authors and illustrators to explore the art and craft of writing and illustrating, in order to encourage an appreciation of literature.

Midwest Literary Walk

April | The Midwest Literary Walk is an annual literary event the last Saturday in April highlighting the power of literature and poetry in everyday life. Nationally known poets and authors engage audiences at a range of venues in downtown Chelsea, Michigan. The readings and conversations are intimate, giving attendees a chance to interact with authors and poets.

Music in the Air Concert Series

June | Enjoy classical music in this outdoor concert. Relax on the lawn of the library after shopping for fresh produce and goodies at the Chelsea Farmers Market across the street and enjoy world-renowned classical musicians in performance. This event takes place in early June.

Summer Reading Program

June–July–August | An annual program developed to bring children, adults, and families to the library for reading and events. Studies show that children who read during the summer gain reading skills, while those who do not often slide backward. Chelsea District Library is helping to close the reading gap by providing children and teens access to high-quality reading materials, opportunities to improve literacy skills, and a place for fun and games. Event takes during the summer break.
